Two fire salamanders (Salamandra salamandra) rest side by side on partially moss-covered fallen wood in their natural forest habitat in Slovakia. Both individuals remain largely motionless throughout the sequence, while subtle rhythmic movements of the throat associated with breathing are clearly visible. The close positioning of the two animals provides a detailed view of their distinctive black-and-yellow coloration and calm resting behaviour.
