A fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra) climbs steadily upward across the steep surface of an old tree trunk covered in a thick layer of water-soaked moss in its natural forest habitat in Slovakia. The salamander continues ascending through the wet moss throughout the sequence before eventually moving completely out of frame, leaving a view of the moss-covered trunk. The footage provides a clear view of locomotion across a steep, saturated woodland surface.
