Close profile view of a young red deer stag (Cervus elaphus) with developing antlers still covered in velvet, standing in warm golden evening light in Slovakia. The stag remains in profile with a strand of grass held in its mouth, quietly listening to its surroundings while subtle movement of its nostrils shows it scenting the air. Filmed around sunset during the autumn rutting season, the solitary young stag was behaving naturally and was unaware of the observer's presence.
