A young tawny owl (Strix aluco) peers from its natural nest cavity in an old willow tree and turns its attention upward. Shortly before, a fly lands on the exposed wood above the chick, which then appears to watch in that direction. Fine spider webs covering parts of the old willow move gently with the breeze, adding natural detail to this intimate view of the active nest cavity.
