Tawny Owl Chick Flapping Wings Inside Natural Nest Cavity

Tawny Owl (Strix aluco) filmed in Slovakia.

Footage description

A young tawny owl (Strix aluco) becomes increasingly active inside its natural nest cavity in an old willow tree. Initially positioned low in the hollow with barely the top of its head visible, the chick gradually rises until part of its face and one eye appear above the edge. It shifts and bobs its body, looks back into the cavity, retreats deeper inside and begins awkwardly flapping its developing wings. Small white airborne particles drift through the scene while fine spider webs on the old willow gently move in the breeze. An intimate view of active pre-fledging behaviour inside a natural tree cavity.
