Footage description
An adult tawny owl (Strix aluco) rests low inside its natural nest cavity in a large old willow tree during an early stage of the breeding season. The owl remains almost completely concealed within the deep hollow, with only the top of its head visible above the lower edge of the cavity. Recorded before the chick became visible at the nest entrance, the footage provides a natural view of the adult's discreet presence inside the active nesting cavity.
