Footage description
An adult tawny owl (Strix aluco) rests low and almost completely concealed inside its natural nest cavity in a large old willow tree. Only the upper part of the owl's head is visible above the lower edge of the deep hollow. Brighter natural light reveals the fine contours of a spider web across the weathered wood at the front of the cavity, gently moving in a light breeze while the owl remains still inside. Recorded during an early stage of the breeding season before the chick became visible at the nest entrance.
